The International Animation Community Festival of Bilbao - Animakom FEST offers you free of charge personalized meetings with a panel of professional experts from different disciplines to help you shape how to present your project on the 15th and 16th of December.

Bilbao Animamus Mentoring Sessions is an initiative of the ANIMAMUS festival network, composed of Animakom FEST, Balkanima (Serbia), Flipbook (North Macedonia), StopTrik (Slovenia/Poland), and Supertoon (Croatia). It aims to support creativity and new talents in European animation, with local support from the Basque producers' association EPE/APV.

Registration

If you have a short film, series, or feature-length animation project, you can send it to us from today until the 8th of December. Two days later, the 6 selected projects for this edition of the Bilbao Animamus Mentoring Sessions will be announced, all you need to do is fill in this form and send the corresponding material, with our guarantee of confidentiality.

Each selected project will entitle a representative (preferably a producer or director) to participate in the different personalized meetings with the consultants.

For this purpose, Animakom FEST will cover your meals and accommodation for two nights if you have to travel from outside Bilbao.

The language used for the pitches will be either English or Spanish, depending on the consultants.

The meetings will take place at Bilborock (Mesedeetako Kaia 1) and Edificio "La Bolsa" (Pilota Kalea 10) on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th December, according to the following schedule:

Friday 15th

• From 10:30 to 13:30 (Bilborock)
  Personalized 30-minute meetings in rotation with each of the consultants, including confirmed guests like Daniel Šuljić (artistic director of the ANIMAFEST Zagreb festival), Nancy Denney-Phelps (programmer at several film festivals), Thomas Johnson Volda, and Ivana Bošnjak (filmmakers and jury members).
• * Selected participants are free to follow the festival program but should prepare a presentation of their projects for the next day based on the consultation results.
• 14:30
  Lunch with the festival's guests.
• 19:00 (Bilborock)
  Screening of Basque Short Films: Laboral Kutxa Award.
• 20:30 (Bilborock)
  Special meeting about the HBO series "Pobre Diablo" with its creators Miguel Esteban and Joaquín Reyes.
• 22:00 (Bilborock)
  International IV screening: Best of 2023, introduced by Daniel Šuljić and Sébastien Sperer (Annecy Festival selection committee).

Saturday 16th

• From 10:30 to 11:30 (Edificio "La Bolsa")
  Master-class with Nik Phelps (musician and composer of animated film scores) about preparing a pitch.
• From 12:00 to 13:30 (Edificio "La Bolsa")
  Round of individual pitching sessions (7 minutes) in front of the consultants and other festival participants, with on-site evaluation.
• Among the festival's guests offering their opinion will be prominent filmmakers like Hisko Hulsing (director of the Prime Video series "Undone") and Veljko Popović, Waltraud Grausgruber (director of Tricky Women/Tricky Realities film festival), Ylka Tapia (producer), along with other members of the local and international animation industry.
• 14:00
  Animapintxo - Gastronomic tour through Bilbao's Old Town (Casco Viejo) with the festival guests.
• From this point, selected participants will be relieved of all obligations, although they are free to join the festival program.
• 17:30 (Bilborock)
  Master-class with Hisko Hulsing about his work as the director of the Prime Video series "Undone".
• 19:00 (Bilborock)
  Retrospective screening by the Polish Film Institute.
• 20:30 (Bilborock)
  Animakom Award 2023 screening: competitive selection of short films directed by MIA associates (Women in the Spanish Animation Industry) and the winning short films from the last edition of Tricky Women/Tricky Realities.
• 22:00 (Bilborock)
  Awards Ceremony and Closing Party.
• 23:00 (Bilborock)
  Animakaraoke.
